‘Ted Lasso’ Season 4 Gets Premiere Date, First Teaser Trailer

Ted Lasso is back to inspire another soccer team to greatness, except this time it’s a women’s squad looking to reach new heights.

A teaser trailer for “Ted Lasso” Season 4 dropped on April 28 with a look at the upcoming season of the Emmy-winning Apple TV hit, which features the folksy American coach played by Jason Sudeikis guiding a squad of professional soccer players in England.

The trailer shows that just about all the familiar faces return, including Emmy winners Hannah Waddingham as team owner Rebecca Welton and Brett Goldstein as pugnacious former star Roy Kent. Juno Temple returns as publicist Keeley Jones, Brendan Hunt is back as Lasso’s hilarious assistant coach and Jeremy Swift returns as the team’s loveable oddball director of football operations.

Joining the cast for the upcoming season are Tanya Reynolds, Jude Mack, Faye Marsay, Rex Hayes, Aisling Sharkey, Abbie Hern and Grant Feely, according to Apple TV.

The new season will premiere Aug. 5 on Apple TV.

The trailer shows that Lasso has returned to Richmond, where he will be coaching a second division women’s soccer team, hoping to inspire them to become a winning team like he previously did with a men’s team in the city.

“Throughout the course of the season, Ted and the team learn to leap before they look, taking chances they never thought they would,” the season’s description reads.

Season 3, which aired in 2023, was previously billed as the “end of the story that we wanted to tell, that we were hoping to tell, that we loved to tell,” Sudeikis told Deadline at the time.

Season 3 ended with Ted choosing to leave England and return home to Kansas City to be with his son. But the finale also teased the eventual Season 4’s premise, when Keeley proposed an AFC Richmond women’s soccer venture to Rebecca.
