Jackass Is Back With One Final Punch in the Nuts

There’s one sound on earth that will never get old, and that’s Johnny Knoxville’s maniacal cackle when someone has been injured. Lucky for us, the first trailer for the fifth Jackass movie, Jackass: Best and Last, is rich with it. Knoxville and his merry band of delightfully sadistic goons are back for one possibly final rodeo. Can you believe there wound up being more Jackass movies than Fantastic Beasts? Ultimately, yes, because it’s a lot cheaper for guys to hit each other in the nuts with various tools and gadgets, even if this one now boasts a robot that does prostate exams.

To explain what a Jackass movie is “about” is a fool’s errand, but Jackass: Best and Last features both new and old footage reflecting back on the series’ 25-year history and is once again directed by Jeff Tremaine. The bulk of the canonical Jackass castmates are back, along with the new recruits from Jackass Forever (including fan favorite “Poopies”). Despite squashing his beef with his former crew, Bam Margera will not be back for new stunts, but there will be archival footage of him and Ryan Dunn. (Margera, to his credit, told TMZ in January that he was focused on skateboarding and spending time with his family, and he gave his blessing for the team to include him retroactively.) A predominantly clip-show-based Jackass movie isn’t the most exciting premise, but these guys have put themselves through hell enough times over to earn a little bit of a break. Also, how can you get sick of seeing Jackass 3’s “He fell for the soup!” high-five stunt? Paramount Pictures will release Jackass: Best and Last in theaters on June 26, so you have plenty of time to stock up on anti-nausea medication before then.
