When the U.S. Supreme Court ruled in favor of Louisiana’s redistricting efforts Tuesday, the decision opened up a world of possibilities for the GOP’s 2026 midterm efforts.
The SCOTUS’s 6-3 decision in Louisiana v. Callais struck down Louisiana’s congressional map as an unconstitutional racial gerrymander, reaffirming that states cannot be forced to draw districts primarily based on race to create additional majority-Black districts beyond what the Voting Rights Act requires.
