Noah Wyle has come a long way while going from one ER to another.
After first rising to fame as Dr. John Carter on “ER,” Wyle now stars as Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch on HBO Max’s “The Pitt.”
The actor stopped by TODAY on April 23 and got to see footage of his first time on the show, back in 1994, shortly after “ER” premiered.
In the clip, a young Wyle talked about how he prepared for his role, while casually dressed in jeans and a leather jacket.
“Step aside, baby Jane Doe. This is baby Noah Wyle,” Savannah Guthrie said, alluding to a Season 2 storyline from “The Pitt” about a baby left at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center.
“I remember that leather jacket. I wore that all the time. That was my kind of thing. That, and a big earring,” said Wyle, who plays the tortured Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, on “The Pitt.”
“Look at us now!” he continued.
“Look at us now. How about that?” Savannah replied.
“It’s pretty cool. I just saw Al on my way in and I was like, ‘Look, Al, they haven’t caught us yet,” Wyle went on.
Al then said he was on hand when “ER” did a live episode.
“We go way back,” Wyle said.
Wyle, who earned five Emmy nominations for his work on “ER,” has won one for best lead actor for “The Pitt,” and another as producer for best drama series. “The Pitt” wrapped up its second season last week and will return at a later date for Season 3.
“This has been a pinch-me experience from the jump, and the most incredible and validating year of my life,” Wyle told Savannah about the show’s success.
It’s been more than three decades since “ER” first burst onto scene, and Wyle is once again receiving acclaim for his work.
“I keep thinking about my kids this year and how great it is for them to see you just keep showing up,” he said. “You just keep doing your thing, and it does come around again, And if you’re ready and you’re prepared, you get to make the most of those opportunities when they come.”
