One thing is certain: Wile E. Coyote suffers. He suffers a lot. He gets blown up. He falls off cliffs. He is tormented by the Road Runner again and again and again. Almost three years ago, Coyote fell victim to another insidious foe: Warner Bros. The studio tried to can his first-ever feature, Coyote vs. Acme, for nothing more than a tax write-off and after a lot of make-shift scrambling and painted tunnels on walls, the rambunctious desert critter will finally see his day in court thanks to Ketchup Entertainment, which … while legitimate, does seem kind of like an Acme-related prank name for a distributor.

The first trailer for Coyote vs. Acme is finally here, proving our little underdog might be able to take on the big corporate giants and get his payday after all. Was it Warner Bros. that wanted to see Coyote vs. Acme canned? Or was it perhaps Acme itself, working overtime to make sure the general public doesn’t see what it’s doing to humble creatures like Wile E. Coyote?

Directed by Dave Green in a script co-written by James Gunn and May December writer Samy Burch that’s based on a short story by Ian Frazier, Coyote vs. Acme stars Will Forte, Lana Condor, and John Cena as well as a whole host of Looney Tunes regulars like Foghorn Leghorn, Porky Pig, Tweety Bird, Daffy Duck, and, who could forget, Bugs Bunny. With any luck, this might wind up being Erin Brockovich for people who love going “meep meep!” Coyote vs. Acme will be out in theaters on August 28.
