The Pittsburgh Steelers are still uncertain about who their starting quarterback will be for the next season because Aaron Rodgers has yet to decide whether he’ll play this year.

Even if Rodgers does return, the Steelers still need a succession plan since Rodgers will turn 43 this year. Drafting a quarterback this year might be the best chance to secure a promising player for the future.

The Athletic’s Mike DeFabo predicted the Steelers would take Miami quarterback Carson Beck in the fourth round.

“Mike McCarthy said he’s looking for a QB “at the right time,” with long arms, big hands and a high floor. Of the mid-round options, the 6-4, 233-pound Beck best checks all of those boxes with nearly 31-inch arms, 10-inch hands and a 37-6 record as a starter,” DeFabo wrote on Monday.

Beck spent six years in college, five at Georgia and one at Miami. During his time in college, he started only three seasons but threw for 11,725 yards and 88 touchdowns, with 32 interceptions, across 55 games.

If the Steelers draft Beck, he could spend a season learning behind Rodgers before competing for the starting job in 2027.
