Marco Chimenz Joins Italy’s MIA Market Following Federation Departure Marco Chimenz Federation

Italian film and TV veteran Marco Chimenz has come onboard Italy’s audiovisual MIA market as Strategic Consultant just days after it was revealed that he had stepping down as co-managing director of Federation Studios.

Chimenz’s appointment at MIA was announced in a joint statement by Alessandro Usai and Chiara Sbarigia, presidents of Italian cinema bodies ANICA and APA which oversee the market taking place in Rome in October.

They said his arrival at the market comes as the event revamps it format to ensure greater alignment with the global evolution of the industry.

“We are very pleased to have promptly reached out to Marco as soon as we learned of his departure from Federation, before he took on another major corporate role,” they said.

“We are confident that, thanks to his extensive international experience, his enthusiasm and his strategic vision, he will be able to carry out this role with the same passion that has distinguished him in the past in managing national and European industry events and association meetings. His involvement will enable the 2026 edition of MIA—the only national industry event dedicated to all genres of cinema and the audiovisual sector—to achieve new and significant milestones.”

Prior to joining the French group Federation, Chimenz was one of the three founding partners of Cattleya, alongside Riccardo Tozzi and Giovanni Stabilini.

He led the company from 1999 to 2023, overseeing its journey through the completion of its sale to the British group ITV Studios.
