The Salt Lake City DA’s office confirmed yesterday that The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives star Taylor Frankie Paul will not be charged with domestic assault against her ex-boyfriend Dakota Mortensen, with whom she shares one child. Prosecutors declined to bring new charges against her because the “misdemeanor offenses” happened multiple years ago and were out of the statute of limitations. Beyond that, the complaints either weren’t crimes or didn’t have enough evidence. “The remaining incidents lack sufficient evidence to support filing criminal charges where the state must be able to prove such allegations beyond a reasonable date,” the DA’s office said. “Such incidents lack specificity as to when and what actually occurred or corroboration.”

“Cried when I got the call,” Paul posted on her Instagram Story after the news broke. “THANK YOU to those that have stood with me.”

It’s a relief moment for Paul after a series of public hardships. In March, Mormon Wives stopped filming reportedly due to Paul and Mortensen’s ongoing domestic-assault investigation, with police saying at the time that “allegations have been made in both directions.” Then a 2023 video of Paul and Mortensen fighting in her home surfaced, and ABC canceled her upcoming season of The Bachelorette just days before it was scheduled to air. Paul previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault of Mortensen in 2023, and the case was mentioned on the show. Now she’s cleared of charges, but the public-relations problems remain.
