The following reveals major spoilers from tonight’s episode of Outlander titled “Evidence of Things Not Seen.”
It’s the final season of the hit Starz series Outlander, and sadly, a special life ended in tonight’s episode.
When a fire roared in the house of Fergus Fraser (César Domboy), the adopted French son of Claire and Jamie Fraser, while he and his wife, Marsali (Lauren Lyle), and children lay sleeping. Fergus rushed to get the family out, one by one, but fell through the roof when it caved under the flames and was consumed by the fire.
It’s a tragic end, but Fergus made the ultimate sacrifice to save his family.

Marsali doesn’t know what she is going to do without Fergus. She rounds up their four children, Germain, Joan, Félicité, and Henri-Christian, for a trip to break the news to Fergus’ devoted parents. They took the news as difficult as expected. Jamie and Claire had spent the day welcoming their granddaughter, only to have to say goodbye to a beloved son soon after.
Jamie builds a casket to lay Fergus’ remains and later buries it. Their sweet granddaughter shares a special stone to put atop Fergus’ final resting place in a sweet gesture.
In the Outlander book series by Diana Gabaldon, death comes to the Fergus Fraser family, but it’s not Fergus who dies. It was his son Henri-Christian who perished in the fire. In the Outlander series, Henri-Christian suffers a close call when he falls from the roof but is saved before his father’s death.
