HBO Max's Anke Greifeneder To Receive The Deadline German TV Disruptor Award Anke Greifeneder, VP Local Original Production Germany, Austria, Switzerland & France at WBD WBD, Seriencamp

Anke Greifeneder will receive Deadline’s 2026 German TV Disruptor award. One of Europe’s leading programming executives, she will accept the honor at Seriencamp, the biggest gathering of the German industry, which takes place in Cologne.

Greifeneder has had a distinguished career in the TV business, shepherding numerous hit shows including landmark TNT Germany series 4 Blocks. As VP Local Original Production Germany, Switzerland, Austria and France at Warner Bros. Discovery, she currently oversees the development and production of local original content for HBO Max across German-speaking Europe and France.

After a stint as a channel manager at Viacom, Greifeneder joined Turner (now WBD) as Head of Programming in 2007. Since 2011, she has been responsible for locally produced originals, initially for the Warner TV channels, and now for HBO Max in German-speaking Europe. France was added to her remit this year. Shows produced under her leadership have won multiple German Television Awards, Grimme Awards, and Bavarian Television Awards (Blauer Panther). She is now shaping HBO Max’s local original programming at a crucial moment for the streamer.

The Deadline German TV Disruptor Award is given to an industry figure who continues to define and shake up the content business. Greifeneder will be the third recipient after Annette Hess (The Interpreter of Silence and Ku’Damm) in 2024 and indie boss and producer Philipp Käßbohrer (How to Sell Drugs Online (Fast)) in 2025.

“We’re delighted to present this year’s German TV Disruptor award to Anke Greifeneder, who continues to shape German and international TV. We couldn’t think of a better recipient as we move into the third year of presenting the award at Seriencamp, which continues to be a must-attend get together in a fast-changing industry,” said Stewart Clarke, SVP, Content, International at Deadline.

We also have the latest details of Seriencamp Conference line-up as it leans in to the Disruptor theme.

“Change doesn’t happen on its own, it must be shaped,” the organizers said as they shared more on what to expect in Cologne. “Germany’s leading industry event for serial storytelling will focus on the disruptive technologies of the future that are set to transform series production in the long term, bringing together international decision-makers and creatives.”

The much-anticipated Wallander reboot will be part of the Work In Progress strand, which offers a first look and deep dive into buzzy upcoming shows. BBC and ZDFneo legal drama Counsels, Netflix series Die Falle and ZDF’s Droneland will also feature.

Speakers added to the schedule include Brian Elsley (Skins), Samuel Jefferson (Krank Berlin) and Luise Hardenberg (Westend Girl).

We already reported on Seriencamp’s plans for 2026, which include an expansive roster of writers, producers, broadcasters, streamers and talent. There is also a Plot Next strand that will explore all things AI and the “intersection between storytelling and technology.”

The Seriencamp Conference runs June 9–11.
