Mama Kelce is setting the record straight after reports about her rumored home renovations caused a stir this week.
In a new episode of the “New Heights” podcast, Jason and Travis Kelce called their mom Donna Kelce to ask her to weigh in on the hot topic.
Jason began by asking his mom about “this tweet that has taken the world by storm.”
“What the heck? Even TMZ sent me a text and said, ‘Can you be on? This is really funny.’ I’m like, ‘It’s so stupid,’” Donna Kelce replied.
In case you missed it, Donna Kelce went viral earlier this week following a report from TMZ that she was remodeling her “modest” Florida home. In response, Jason Kelce joked about the rumors by sharing the report and tweeting, “BREAKING!! Sources confirm Donna Kelce’s eldest son watched 2 hours of Bluey yesterday.”
When the “New Heights” Instagram page reposted his funny message, Donna Kelce followed suit and shared it on her Instagram page, but didn’t offer any comment.
Hilarity ensued as social media users feigned extreme interest in the rumored renovations. The X account for the Empire State Building also got in on the fun, congratulating Donna Kelce on her remodel.
While chatting with her sons, Donna Kelce said she thinks she knows where the rumors first started.
“They probably pulled a permit because they’re coming on Monday to put my windows and doors in,” she said.
While Jason and Donna Kelce were discussing the gossip du jour, Travis Kelce was making some epic silly faces with his niece, who appeared in the background right behind her father.
Jason was curious to know if this was a “random” renovation or if his mother was filming something like an “HGTV show.” She confirmed that it was just a minor update.
“All I’m doing is my people are coming to put in my windows on Monday,” she said.
“Wait, you’re doing 16 windows? The article says nine,” Jason Kelce joked.
“It’s because you know my whole apartment is all windows,” Donna Kelce explained.
Jason Kelce took the opportunity to tease his mother a bit.
“Well, I just wanted to say, mom, they said ‘modest home’ and it feels like you’re turning this place into a bit of a gilded palace. I think you’ve changed a little bit,” he joked.
Donna Kelce laughed and said the minor improvements are pretty practical.
“I’m doing something so that I can save money on heating and air conditioning and to keep my windows from sweating. That’s as simple as it is,” she said.
Jason Kelce said the whole situation was “hilarious” and his mother agreed.
“Oh, it’s so funny,” she said.
Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie Kelce, also weighed in on the rumors this week in an episode of her podcast, “Not Gonna Lie with Kylie Kelce,” calling the news “shocking” and “groundbreaking.”
The mother of four said that her mother-in-law had given her a heads up that she was installing new windows at home.
“And that was a little earth-shattering for me because when I heard that she had scheduled this really just crazy remodel of getting her windows replaced, I thought, ‘Well done, Donna. Way to do something for yourself,’” she said in a clip from the podcast.
Kylie Kelce kept up the act, saying it was “really, really important that this hit the internet when it did.”
“I think that the gravity of this article was important to address,” she teased.
