With the cancellation of Law & Order: Organized Crime, Christopher Meloni and his badonkadonk butt are saying farewell to the Dick Wolf fam. “I just saw that they announced Organized Crime won’t be coming back,” Meloni said in an Instagram video. “I wanted to take this moment to say ‘thank you’ to the fans who not only helped give the character of Elliot Stabler life and longevity, but for sticking with him and welcoming him back. It was a good ride.”

Meloni first played Stabler in the Law & Order: Special Victims Unit pilot in 1999. From there, he will-they-won’t-theyed with Olivia Benson (Mariska Hargitay) for 12 years. Meloni left SVU in 2011, but he returned to the show in 2021 to backdoor-pilot Organized Crime. He also dropped into L&O prime for the occasional guest appearance throughout that show’s run and could still guest on SVU in the future. In the 17 years that Meloni has played Stabler, the man has endured a lot. He got separated, then un-separated, then his wife gave birth during a car crash, then his wife blew up. He got shot while going undercover in an animal-smuggling ring, came up against IA multiple times for accusations of excessive force, and had to interrogate Hayden Panettiere as two different people. “I had a great time playing him. It was a great ride,” Meloni said on Instagram, thanking the fans. “Thank you. You helped give me a career that I never dreamed of.”
