Al Roker Surprises Anne Hathaway Wearing a Cerulean Sweater in Honor of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’

Al Roker is ceru-leaning in to “The Devil Wears Prada.”

Al came out during Anne Hathaway’s TODAY interview with Hoda Kotb on April 15 sporting a cerulean sweater remarkably similar to the one Hathaway’s character, Andy Sachs, was famously chewed out for wearing by Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestley in “The Devil Wears Prada.”

Before he jumped into the interview, Hoda mentioned Al hadn’t seen the movie until last week and didn’t know what cerulean was or how the color played into Miranda’s famous monologue. She then brought him out while he wore his own cerulean sweater.

“That looks better on you than anybody,” the Oscar winner told Al.

“It was a J. Crew sweater I had in my closet. Literally, it’s like 15 years old,” he said.

“Everything old is new again, and now you are just as fashionable as ever,” Hathaway replied.

Al credited his wife, Deborah Roberts, for getting him up to speed on “The Devil Wears Prada.”

“My wife, Deborah, said, ‘You’ve got to watch this before the new one comes out.’ So we watched. It’s a revelation,” he said.

Hathaway remains grateful for the love people have for the film, even after all these years.

“To realize this movie that we made 20 years ago, that we had so much fun making, has now amassed a global audience in the most organic way possible. It’s so sweet and touching and genuinely humbling,” she said.

It remains to be seen if the cerulean sweater will make an appearance in “The Devil Wears Prada 2,” which comes out May 1. Hathaway knows “expectations are sky high” for the sequel, but she believes the movie more than lives up to the hype.

“I really feel like everybody’s delivering something that people could really use right now. I’m just so proud and thrilled to be in it, both of these films. They’re so different, but I’m really happy,” she said.
