Who do Commanders select in latest 5-round NFL.com mock draft?

A new mock draft has the Washington Commanders selecting a different player.

In March, NFL.com writer Chad Reuter predicted the Commanders would select Ohio State linebacker Sonny Styles at the No. 7 draft position. On Friday, Reuter updated his latest mock draft, and sure enough, there was a change in his mind for the Commanders at No. 7.

Commanders Nation is well aware that the Commanders have a need for a receiver, seeing that they are not re-signing Deebo Samuel. In addition, it looks as if 2026 “could” be Terry McLaurin’s last for the Washington NFL franchise. Secondly, with the release of 2024 and 2025 starting center, Tyler Biadasz, there is a need for a center. That is, if the Commanders don’t go with Nick Allegretti or Brandon Coleman moving over to center. Also, the Commanders’ corners really struggled in 2025. They have signed Amik Robertson, and the consensus amongst media following the team is that the Commanders will draft a corner somewhere in this draft.

So, what did Reuter have for the Commanders in rounds one, three and five. Remember, due to the trade last offseason for starting left tackle Laremy Tunsil, the Commanders do not have draft choices in the second or fourth rounds.

No. 7 overall: Mansoor Delane, CB, LSU

The Commanders have two short but tenacious corners in Amik Robertson and Mike Sainristil and hope to get a healthy Trey Amos back after he sustained a broken fibula in Week 10 last season. Delane, the class’s top cover corner, gives Dan Quinn size outside and allows him to stick with man coverage more frequently.

Interestingly, when the Commanders came up on the clock, they would have also seen Delane, S Caleb Downs, DE Ruebin Bain Jr, CB Jermod McCoy, WR Carnell Tate and LB Sonny Styles were all still quite available. The Commanders and their fans are not going to like it, but Reuter has Sonny Styles falling all the way to the rival Cowboys at No. 12.

Here are the other two picks Reuter has the Commanders making in rounds three and five.

No. 71 overall: Connor Lew, C, Auburn

The Commanders need a young center and Lew is one of the best ones.

No. 147 overall: Eric Rivers, WR, GA Tech

Washington has reportedly met with Rivers, who was timed at 4.35 seconds in the 40-yard dash.
