Hollywood’s biggest night is nearly here. The 98th Academy Awards are set to honor the best in cinema over the last year.
“Sinners” has already made history by becoming the most nominated film in Oscars history, garnering 16 nominations, including one for the night’s biggest prize, best picture. “One Battle After Another” was next with 13 nods, while “Frankenstein,” “Sentimental Value” and “Marty Supreme” picked up nine.
Ten films make up the best picture category, with “Sinners,” competing against some critically acclaimed fare, including “Bugonia,” “F1,” “Frankenstein,” “Hamnet,” “Marty Supreme,” “One Battle After Another,” “The Secret Agent,” “Sentimental Value” and “Train Dreams.”
Michael B. Jordan was nominated for best actor for his role in “Sinners” in a stacked field that also features Leonardo DiCaprio (“One Battle After Another”), Ethan Hawke (“Blue Moon”) and Timothée Chalamet (“Marty Supreme”), who was nominated last year for “A Complete Unknown.” Wagner Moura rounds out the category for “The Secret Agent.”
The best actress race includes Jessie Buckley (“Hamnet”), as well as Rose Byrne (“If I Had Legs I’d Kick You”), Kate Hudson (“Song Sung Blue”), Renate Reinsve (“Sentimental Value”) and two-time Oscar winner Emma Stone (“Bugonia”).
This year’s ceremony also marks a first: a new category for casting.
Conan O’Brien, who hosted last year’s show, will return in the same role to oversee the ceremony.

A live, 90-minute red-carpet special, “On The Red Carpet at the Oscars: Countdown to Oscars,” will air on ABC starting at 3:30 p.m. ET. That will be followed by “On the Red Carpet at the Oscars” at 5 p.m. ET. Then, “The Oscars Red Carpet Show” comes on at 6:30 p.m. ET before into the ceremony begins.
