Wendi McLendon-Covey is letting the world know why she wasn’t on hand for the “Bridesmaids” reunion at the Academy Awards.
Melissa McCarthy, Rose Byrne, Kristen Wiig, Maya Rudolph and Ellie Kemper all took the stage to present the awards for best original score and best sound. But first, they did a bit where they read “notes” from some of the stars in the audience, including Stellan Skarsgård, Leonardo DiCaprio and Benicio del Toro.
In “Bridesmaids,” Rudolph plays a new bride who asks her best friend, played by Wiig, to be her maid of honor. The bridesmaid crew is rounded out by McCarthy, Byrne, Kemper and McLendon-Covey.

McLendon-Covey missed the Oscars reunion, but she explained her absence on Instagram.
“In response to some of the dms I’m getting: I had a neck lift last week because I’m tired of looking like a melting candle. So I had to skip the Academy Awards. No drama. Everything is fine. 😘,” she captioned a photo of herself on Instagram March 15 with a bandage stretching from her chin to the top of her head.
“Congratulations queen, I cannot WAIT to see her. (Your neck) 💙” her “St. Denis Medical” co-star Allison Tolman wrote in the comments.
The “Bridesmaids” reunion took place in honor of the 2011 comedy’s 15th anniversary. The film was a massive hit, earning nearly $290 million worldwide, according to Box Office Mojo. It also notched a pair of Academy Award nominations, including a best supporting actress nod for McCarthy and another for best original screenplay for Wiig and Annie Mumolo.
Byrne was nominated at this year’s Oscars for best actress for her role in “If I Had Legs I’d Kick You,” but lost out to Jessie Buckley for “Hamnet.”
