UPDATE: Megan Thee Stallion has been diagnosed with extreme exhaustion, dehydration, vasoconstriction and low metabolic levels after being rushed to a hospital in New York last night during a performance of Broadway‘s Moulin Rouge! The Musical.

In a new statement on Instagram, the performer writes, “Last night was a real wake-up call for me. I’ve been pushing myself past my limits lately, running on empty, and my body finally said enough. It honestly scared me. I thought I was gonna faint on stage, I really tried to push through my performance but I just couldn’t.

“Hotties,” she continues, “I wanna be real with y’all because you mean everything to me and I hate letting yall down. I just need one day to rest, reset, and take care of myself the way I should have been..I’ll be right back on that stage Thursday, stronger, clearer, and ready to give you 100% the way you deserve. Thank you for always riding with me and loving me through everything.”

In a statement to press, her rep said that the rapper-performer, who is making her Broadway debut in the production, has been treated and released from the hospital and is now resting.

“Megan is incredibly grateful for the prayers and well-wishes from her supporters and is looking forward to resuming her role as Zidler on Moulin Rouge on Thursday,” the statement continues.

Deadline reported earlier this morning that Megan Thee Stallion would not perform at today’s matinee and evening shows.

PREVIOUS: Megan Thee Stallion will not perform in either of today’s two scheduled Moulin Rouge! The Musical performances, according to the Broadway production’s website.

A message reading “Important Information” pops up in response to clicking for ticket purchases on the site. “The role of Zidler will not be played by Megan Thee Stallion at the April 1st performance” at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m., the message states.

The rapper-songwriter was rushed to a hospital last night after falling ill mid-performance at the Al Hirshfeld Theatre where she had made her Broadway debut as nightclub owner Zidler last week. A spokesperson for the show said last night that “Megan started feeling very ill and was promptly transported to a local hospital, where her symptoms are currently being evaluated.”

Details of her illness have not been disclosed. Deadline has reached out to a show spokesperson and the performer’s rep for additional information and updates. As of Wednesday morning, the show website does not indicate that she will be absent from the Thursday, April 2, evening performance.

Megan Thee Stallion announced in February that she would begin a limited eight-week engagement in the role beginning on March 24 and running through Sunday, May 17. Her debut week proved popular with audiences, with ticket sales jumping $449,217 over the previous week for a total weekly gross of $1,600,037.

Last night, after her abrupt exit, Megan Thee Stallion’s friend and hairstylist Kellon Deryck posted on social media, “Everyone say a prayer for Megan, we are all at the hospital.”

The Zidler character, whose original name Harold Zidler was shortened when Megan Thee Stallion was cast, was portrayed in the 2001 film by Jim Broadbent and has been played on Broadway by Danny Burstein, Austin Durant, Eric Anderson, Boy George, Tituss Burgess and Bob The Drag Queen, among others.
