Per the Columbus Dispatch, the Ohio State football program self-reported three minor NCAA violations that took place in 2025.
The first involved the use of a student manager who was no longer enrolled at the school in the summer of 2025. The manager was enrolled at a satellite campus, and it was thought that he would be enrolling in the main campus, but he did not. He was responsible for clock operation duties. Once it was determined that he was no longer enrolled, the manager was removed. OSU has now implemented manager enrollment tracking services.

The second violation occurred in January 2025 when a student-athlete who had not been medically cleared yet participated in team strength and conditioning activities. Once discovered, the student-athlete was medically cleared by the training staff and was free to participate going forward. The program is reviewing its medical clearance process.
The third and final violation self-reported involved a post shared on social media by an assistant coach announcing the commitment of a transfer portal athlete. The athlete had not yet committed, so the action was against NCAA rules. The post was taken down, and the assistant was provided counseling and education on the matter.
Now, before you get too troubled, it must be noted that this is commonplace. Ohio State and almost all other big-time programs can never stay completely in the guardrails, and self-reporting is encouraged and, in fact, the norm. The fact that OSU is self-reporting is a credit to the compliance of its program.
