The No. 9 Oklahoma baseball team will head into Southeastern Conference play this weekend on a five-game winning streak after the Sooners beat Texas-Arlington on Wednesday.
OU has lost just twice this season and will carry a 15-2 record into its league slate. Skip Johnson’s club will host No. 22 Texas A&M, which sits at 15-1 with a six-game winning streak, for a three-game set starting Friday. The Sooners have yet to play a true road game yet this season.

On Wednesday, it wouldn’t have mattered, home or road. Six OU pitchers combined to strikeout 14 batters give up just one run on six hits in the 6-1 victory. That lone Mavericks run came in the top of the first on an RBI groundout.
Oklahoma loaded the bases in the bottom of the first, but didn’t score until the second when Jason Walk stole home to tie the game. Walk then gave the Sooners the lead in the fourth when he scored, after stealing second base, on an RBI single from Brendan Brock. Brock then stole second himself and scored on Cam Johnson’s single back up the middle to make it 3-1 Oklahoma
Those two led the way for the Sooners as Brock went 3 for 4 with a two doubles, a steal and three RBIs. Walk went 2 for 3 with three runs. Walk and Brock scored again in the sixth as Brock doubled home his centerfielder and Kyle Branch before scoring himself on a Deitan LaChance single.
Mason Bixby picked up the win for OU, tossing two innings of shutout ball, striking out six and inducing a groundout in two precise frames.
First pitch Friday against the Aggies is set for 6:30 p.m.
