Dear Meghan: I am quite close to my mother, a devoted grandmother who has spent her entire life focused on me and now my children. I am her only child, and my dad passed away about six years ago. My mom is somewhat of a “third parent” for our family due to my husband’s hectic work schedule. Instead of frequent babysitters, she is always able to stay home with a sick child and attend school events or various kid activities. We see her two to three times per week.
