Last September, Lola Young shared she would be taking a break from music after collapsing on stage at All Things Go festival in New York. Half a year later, she’s thankfully doing a lot better. When asked what happened to her in September by The Times UK, she was cautious about being honest while trying to maintain her privacy. “Um, so yeah, I think I would rather for the sake of my privacy not say too much,” she explained. “But what I would say is that recovery is an ongoing process. I’m not the finished article, but I’m doing a hell of a lot better.” She then shared that she was in recovery for drug abuse, sharing, “I mean drugs recovery, yes. When you’re in recovery… that doesn’t necessarily need to mean drugs — but me specifically, yes.” She spent several months at a “holistic facility” for mental health and addiction, and now regularly attends AA.

She’s only rewatched the clip of herself fainting “once or twice” but tries to move on from that moment. “Obviously, I’m not going to be searching it,” she explained to Rolling Stone earlier this month. “It’s not something I’d like to search. But I am very grateful that it happened because it was, what do you call that? Like, a breaking point which allowed me to then be able to be here today, allowed me to be better for my fans, better for the future, and better for myself.”
