“XO, Kitty” fans are looking forward to a long-awaited cameo from Lana Condor in Season 3.

The actor, who played Lara Jean Song-Covey in the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” franchise, visits her onscreen sister Kitty (Anna Cathcart) at KISS (Korean Independent School of Seoul) and appears in a few episodes of Season 3.

Netflix shared the news in March and posted a video of Condor and Cathcart on set together. In the short clip, Min Ho (Sang Heon Lee) turns and says, “Covey?”

Both Condor and Cathcart turn, and Condor says, “Yes?”

Condor also commented on the post, writing, “HI SISTERRR.”

While appearing on the 3rd hour of TODAY March 23, Condor spoke about Season 3 of “XO, Kitty.” She praised Cathcart’s talents on the show, saying, “It’s really her own space, and I was just a guest there.”

“To be honest, it’s just a love letter to the fans,” Condor said. “All the time I’m asked, ‘Are you going to go back?’ And I had to lie for so long. So now it’s nice to be able to tell people.”

Last season, “XO, Kitty” fans were treated to cameos from two beloved characters from the “To All the Boys I’ve Loved Before” movies.

Lara Jean’s boyfriend, Peter, played by Noah Centineo, visited Kitty in South Korea in Season 2 and delighted viewers when they learned that the couple was still going strong.

Kitty’s older sister Margot (Janel Parrish) also flew to South Korea to support her as she arranged a reunion with a long-lost relative of their family.

So what happens when Lara Jean finally appears in “XO, Kitty”?

Lana Condor’s Role In ‘XO, Kitty’ Season 3, Explained

At the end of Episode 1, Kitty gets a call from Lara Jean, but viewers don’t hear what she says. In Episode 2, viewers learn that Lara Jean is going through a rough patch with Peter, and she asks Kitty to join her in New York City for the summer.

Lara Jean explains that her life isn’t compatible with Peter’s at the moment since he has a job in California and she’s pursuing a career in publishing in New York City.

“You’re gonna figure this out with Peter. I just know it,” Kitty says.

Kitty then tells Lara Jean the distance won’t matter once she publishes her first novel, which Kitty snuck a peek at, unbeknownst to Lara Jean.

Kitty then reveals that she’s fallen in love with New York University and plans to apply to the school.

“So if I go to NYC and you two make up and move in together, I will be over every Sunday night for dinner. Fear not,” Kitty says.

Kitty, who’s unsure where things stand with her and Min Ho after they spent the summer apart, also gets some relationship and life advice from Lara Jean.

“Whatever happens with Min Ho, I think it’s important that you make sure you take the time to discover who you are. Just make senior year count,” she says.

Flash forward to Episode 6. After officially starting a relationship at the start of their senior year at KISS, Min Ho and Kitty break up after yet another misunderstanding.

So Lara Jean surprises Kitty with a visit to South Korea to cheer her up.

Lara Jean encourages Kitty to work on her NYU early admission application. While doing some sightseeing together, Lara Jean also provides an update on her relationship with Peter.

“We are not back together, but Peter is coming to New York just to talk. We are still 5,000 miles apart literally and emotionally,” she says.

“Well, I’m not gonna give up hope. I know you two are end game,” Kitty says.

“I don’t know about that. But I will keep you posted,” Lara Jean says.

Later in the episode, the sisters dine out with their cousin Jiwon (Hojo Shin) and discover that she’s pregnant. They watch from afar as she tells Alex (Peter Thurnwald) that he’s the father of her child.

As Jiwon and Alex, two of Kitty’s matchmaking targets earlier in the season, celebrate their news, Lara Jean takes a moment to reflect on the life Kitty has built in South Korea.

“I think if mom could see you now, she’d be so proud of you. I know I am,” she says.

After reading Kitty’s NYU application essay, Lara Jean realizes her sister seems hesitant about attending the school. Kitty explains that she’s still hoping she will get back together with Min Ho and is nervous about leaving behind her life in South Korea.

“I don’t know what’s gonna happen between you and Min Ho. I don’t know what’s gonna happen between me and Peter. But we can’t just stop living our lives. I think that we have to follow our hearts and trust that it will lead us to our next great adventure,” she says.

As she’s saying goodbye to Kitty, Lara Jean reveals she submitted her manuscript. Kitty is psyched and says, “I can’t believe I’m gonna be related to a New York Times bestselling author.”

After Kitty leaves for class, Lara Jean spots Min Ho outside. He comes over, says hello and asks how Kitty is doing.

“Honestly, she’s great. You know, I thought I was coming here to help her and as it turns out at the end of this she’s the one who inspired me,” Lara Jean says. “She’s a really great person to have in your corner.”

“Yeah, she is,” he replies.

“Just don’t forget that,” she says.

Finally in Episode 8, the Season 3 finale, Lara Jean calls to wish Kitty happy birthday and says her boss loved her manuscript. She also says that Peter says hi, implying that they’re back together.

“Obviously there’s a lot of things we have to figure out. But we are gonna make it work. Love is worth the risk, right?” she says.
