Justin Bieber’s music career began with YouTube, and during his Coachella headlining set, he paid tribute to his roots by dueting with himself. Bieber introduced the concept of DJ Biebs at the beginning of his set, shouting out the audience watching at home (also on YouTube) and asking people in the chat what songs they wanted him to sing. Obviously, the Beliebers in the purple hoodies wanted him to play some of the oldies that they grew up with. Instead of singing the full songs or creating a medley, Bieber began searching for his biggest hits on YouTube and singing alongside his childhood self. From the “Baby” music video to a cover of “So Sick” from a singing competition, he made sure that those who’ve been with him from the beginning could hear grown-up Biebs sing just a snippet of the song.
However, like all YouTube rabbit holes, Bieber began searching up embarrassing moments of himself, like when he hit his head on a glass door or his “standing on business” paparazzi moment from last year. He’s also selling merch with a screenshot from that interaction on it — in case anyone forgot, the Biebers are all about synergy.
