Rozenstruik, 37, faced a third-degree felony count of false imprisonment and a first-degree misdemeanor count of battery. However, the alleged victim in the case, who later identified herself as Rozenstruik’s wife, filed a request for charges and a protection order to be dropped in late January.

“We have 1 child together, who’s 4 years old, we do reside together as a family, with no issues,” the letter read. “He’s in fact an incredible amazing father and husband. I’m not in fear of my life, I’m not in any danger at all. I will (ask) that this court drops all of the charges against Mr. Rozenstruik and/or to at least allow him to have non-violent contact between myself and him.”

It appears the district attorney’s office obliged her request. According to online court records, the district attorney’s office elected not to take further action.

Rozenstruik, known to many MMA fans as “Bigi Boy,” was arrested Jan. 19 in Pembroke Pines, Fla., outside of Miami. Rozenstruik, a native of Suriname, was then placed in immigration hold.

Police said they responded to a dispute involving Rozenstruik and an unidentified woman. The woman claimed Rozenstruik slapped a phone out of her hand while she was ignoring him in the midst of an argument in a vehicle. The woman told police Rozenstruik then slapped her hand again as she attempted to exit the vehicle and Rozenstruik grabbed her arm. The woman said Rozenstruik tried to kiss her and then bit her arm. She also alleged Rozenstruik prevented her from exiting the car after they drove to another location.

Police said bite marks were visible on the woman’s right bicep, and she presented redness on both forearms and bruising under her right eye. Police described Rozenstruik as uncooperative during their contact with him.

Rozenstruik eventually submitted a written statement to police. While the text is redacted from public record, it’s referenced later in the police report that Rozenstruik claimed the woman had punched him. The woman later confirmed to police that she punched Rozenstruik in self-defense as she tried to break his grip to exit the vehicle.

Rozenstruik competed 15 times in the UFC from February 2019 to February 2025. The promotion parted ways with him following a loss to Sergei Pavlovich, despite him being 2-1 in his most recent three UFC bouts. After his release, Rozenstruik fought twice under the Dirty Boxing Championship banner and won both times.
