KAPOLEI, Hawaii — Less than an hour remained in the final luau at Paradise Cove. At midnight, 167 employees would be out of work.

On Jan. 1, 2026, the lease would officially end, clearing the way for an upscale destination for shopping, restaurants and entertainment with an estimated price tag of $135 million.
