Rapper Gucci Mane has reportedly been robbed and kidnapped by his former collaborators Pooh Shiesty, Big30, and seven others on January 10, the Department of Justice reports. According to a press conference, Pooh Shiesty, whose legal name is Lontrell Williams Jr., allegedly asked to meet with Gucci Mane to discuss the terms of his contract with his record label, 1017. Williams’s case manager had called him, as he was not allowed to be out of his home due to his ankle monitor. Gucci Mane offered to reschedule, but instead, Williams asked him to go into another room with his father and another artist. Eventually, an argument broke out between them, and Williams “pulled what appeared to be a black AK-style pistol” and pointed it at Mane. He demanded that Mane sign a document to release him from his contract; Mane complied. Then, six others, allegedly working with Williams, entered the room and robbed them of watches, jewelry, AirPods, and a designer bag. The victims were then barricaded in the room, unable to leave.
Williams, his father, and six other suspects were arrested on Wednesday in Texas and Tennessee. If found guilty, they could face life in prison for kidnapping and robbery at gunpoint. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says Williams’s ankle monitor shows he was at the recording studio at the time of the incident. The U.S. Department of Justice also shared evidence from social media screenshots showing those allegedly involved wearing items stolen from Mane.
