One month after getting arrested for driving under the influence, Britney Spears has voluntarily entered rehab, multiple outlets report. Spears was arrested for a DUI March 4 and released the following morning. “This was an unfortunate incident that is completely inexcusable,” a rep told E! News at the time. “Britney is going to take the right steps and comply with the law and hopefully this can be the first step in long-overdue change that needs to occur in Britney’s life.”
Spears has been to rebab before, but not voluntarily. While under her conservatorship, she was forced to enter a $60,000 rehab facility by her father, Jamie Spears. “We will make you look like a fucking idiot, and trust me, you will not win,” her father says in her memoir, The Woman in Me. While there, she leaden about the #FreeBritney movement. “Seeing them marching in the streets, chanting ‘Free Britney!’ — that was the most amazing thing I’d ever seen in my life,” she wrote.
“Hopefully she can get the help and support she needs during this difficult time,” Spears’s rep said in March. “Her boys are going to be spending time with her. Her loved ones are going to come up with an overdue needed plan to set her up for success for her well-being.” Spears is expected to appear in court May 4 to address the DUI.
