Finally, it happened. Beloved character actress and Emmy winner Ann Dowd is on Instagram. The verified account, @realanndowd (not to be confused with Bald Ann Dowd), made its first post on March 18 — finally ending the torturous 5,642-day dry spell of there being no Ann Dowd on the app.

“Hello Instagram and cheers everyone! It’s me, Ann,” she wrote in her inaugural March 17 post under a photo of herself toasting what appears to be a martini. “Love to you all … and wondering how I got here!?” Meanwhile, we’re just wondering what took so long. The following day, the newly minted influencer was back at it again, sharing a photo of herself posing in front of the Eiffel Tower captioned, “Lydia in Paris,” teasing the premiere of Hulu’s The Testaments. The show — a sequel to The Handmaid’s Tale, which Dowd also starred in as Aunt Lydia — is set to premiere on April 8.

Now you may be thinking to yourself, Surely Ann Dowd’s arrival to the app instantly broke the five-hour and 16-minute world record set by Jennifer Aniston for the fastest time to reach one million followers, right? Instagram’s headquarters must have been frantically scrambling to make sure the traffic rushing to Ann Dowd’s account didn’t crash its servers? Well, you’ll be shocked to discover that as I write this, Ann Dowd has only 185 followers on Instagram.

This is a travesty. I know dogs with more followers than that, and they don’t even have Critics Choice Awards! What are you all waiting for? Who are you following that takes precedence over character actress Ann Dowd? What more could that app possibly offer to you than charming updates from the woman who played Patti on The Leftovers? You all need to get your act together, stop whatever it is you’re doing, and follow Ann Dowd on Instagram NOW. What if she starts making Reels? They’ll exude such a level of prestige that the Golden Globes will have no choice but to create a whole new category, and you’re certainly not gonna want to miss that.
