“Summer House” star Amanda Batula is issuing a sweeping apology to “everyone” she’s “disappointed and hurt” following confirmation that she and co-star West Wilson are dating.
“Hi guys, I’ll keep this short and sweet. I’ve obviously been MIA, but I wanted to come back on and say that I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve disappointed and hurt, especially those I know personally who I’ve reached out to individually,” Batula wrote April 10 in a statement in her Instagram story.
“For the sake of my mental health,” she continued, “I’m going to try to start living life with some sense of normalcy. If you see me out or posting online, please know that this still weighs very heavily on me. I’m not ignoring what’s happened or what’s unfolded.”
Batula added that she would attend the show’s upcoming Season 10 reunion, where she would be “addressing any and all questions honestly and directly there.”
Batula and Wilson shocked fans when they confirmed their romance in a joint statement March 31, a little over two months after Batula announced her split from estranged husband Kyle Cooke in January.
Batula’s close friend and co-star, Ciara Miller, was previously in an on-and-off romance with Wilson.
“We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” read the statement, which both Batula and Wilson shared on social media.
“It was never our intention to purposely hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it,” they continued.
The couple went on to say their “connection” grew out of a “genuine, longstanding friendship.”
Miller recently posed a pointed question about hooking up with a friend’s ex-boyfriend while interviewing Sydney Sweeney at the “Euphoria” Season 3 premiere on April 7.
“I mean, if you steal your friend’s ex-boyfriend …” Miller asked Sweeney on the red carpet.
“It’s not good,” Sweeney said.
(Granted, Sweeney is involved in a a similar storyline on “Euphoria,” which returns to HBO Max on April 12. Sweeney’s character, Cassie, secretly hooked up with Nate (Jacob Elordi), the ex of her best friend Maddy (Alexa Demie), in Season 2 of the drama.)
At the “Euphoria” premiere, Miller went on to ask Sweeney, “What do you think is the next step? I feel like you ought to get married,” seemingly referencing the Season 3 trailer for “Euphoria,” which shows Cassie walking down the aisle.
“I mean, I would hope so. You got to make it worth it,” Sweeney responded.
“You got to make it worth it,” Miller said, before turning and looking directly at the camera.
