EXCLUSIVE: Management firm 3Point0 Labs has signed One54 Africa, the media platform and podcast led by American Ninja Warrior host Akbar Gbajabiamila and actor-comedian Godfrey Danchimah.
Danchimah and Akbar Gbajabiamila co-own One54 Africa in conjunction with Heather Pink and Christian ‘CJ’ Dear, with all four serving as producers on the podcast show, which celebrates the 54 countries in Africa, one story at a time.
The One54 Africa podcast looks at African culture, investments and diaspora identity, and seeks to bridge conversations between figures on the continent and the global African community. It currently goes out through iHeartPodcasts, with recent guests having included Grammy-nominated artist Vic Mensa on African and African-American relations and actor-investor Boris Kodjoe on cross-continental investment opportunities.
“Our goal has always been to celebrate African excellence while building real economic bridges,” said co-host Danchimah, the Nigerian-American comic who has appeared in Zoolander and Soul Plane, and released a comedy special this year, Rebel with a Cause.
“Partnering with 3Point0 gives us the strategic infrastructure to grow responsibly and globally,” added co-host Gbajabiamila, the former NFL football player, TV personality and presenter who co-hosts NBC’s American Ninja Warrior. He was previously a host on CBS series The Talk, NFL Network’s Good Morning Football and Roku’s Fight to Survive.
One54 Africa is produced with PinkDear, a social media consulting, strategy and creative firm that co-producers Pink and Dear own.
Under the new partnership, 3Point0 will represent One54 Africa in endorsement opportunities, ambassador roles, strategic growth initiatives and long-term business development opportunities.
For its part, One54 is planning to expand beyond audio and video into broader cultural, experiential and commercial verticals, and engage closer with African diaspora audiences.
